Trans World Radio’s Southern African Regional Director, Isac Silvano, recently completed a trip to Angola and was very encouraged by the wonderful work being done through the Project Hannah teams. Though they are facing many challenges, the ministry of Project Hannah is doing well in Angola, says Alice Rodrigues (the National Project Hannah Coordinator).
Mrs. Ester Firmino, the Provincial Project Hannah Coordinator in Lubango reported that they now have two services per week in the prison which is attended by more than 400 prisoners per service. The authorities are so impressed by the difference this ministry is making in the lives of the prisoners that they have even committed to provide a room for counselling after the services.
Tragically, three weeks ago a young female prisoner suddenly died after experiencing a severe headache. Ester was asked by the authorities to conduct a memorial service in the prison for the girl. During the service many prisoners received Jesus into their lives. Many prisoners are now also requesting the ‘Heart of Man’ booklet – they consider it as a second Bible.
Prayer groups in the Benguela province are growing steadily because of committed women who have dedicated themselves to God and prayer ministry. Many churches are joining Project Hannah.
The prayer calendar will be translated into Umbundu soon and plans are in place to broadcast “Women of Hope” from the local Benguela station.
Let us continue to pray for this amazing ministry to change the hearts and lives of women around the world, so that they in turn can change their communities and ultimately their nation for the glory of Jesus Christ.
