USING TECHNOLOGY TO SPREAD THE WORD

People who live in rural Africa have always faced a few challenges in terms of having access to basic needs such as water and electricity.  Electricity is available to only a small percentage of African inhabitants.  But thank God for modern technology!  TWR has identified the benefits of a small device – the MT4 player.  This is a revolutionary system which will make a huge difference to listener groups of the Thru The Bible-Xitshwa programme.

For those who are technically ignorant, like me – an MT4 player is a gadget very similar to a MP3 player.  It’s roughly the size of a portable CD player, and is in fact a solar powered player with its own speakers.  What a wonderful tool to make disciples of Christ.

Trans World Radio’s MT4 Player Project (which runs along the same lines as the Wind-up Radio Project) is still in its infancy stage, but already 45 listener groups have been formed.  These listener groups are in the Inhambane Province in Mozambique and the first 47 MT4 players are already with TWR-Mozambique.  Dr. Tomas Jane, national director for TWR-Mozambique, will soon deliver an extra 41 MT4 players to the area.

The MT4 players are used in addition to wind-up radios, as these listener groups will focus specifically on listening to and studying the Thru The Bible-Xitshwa programmes.  Study material is already copied onto the equipment and programmes can be listened to over and over, analyzed and discussed.

On the 20th and 21st of June training will take place in Inhambane to instruct the staff at TWR-Mozambique on how to copy programmes onto the MT4 cards.  They will in turn show the leaders how to use the devices when they visit listener groups.

Thru The Bible is supporting the purchase and distribution of the players.  You can be involved by keeping the project up in prayer as these listeners will be rooted and grounded in the Word of God through this initiative.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent?” -  Romans 10 : 14 - 15
