Prayer is urgently needed for thousands of people in Japan whose lives have been upturned by a massive 8.9 earthquake and tsunami that slammed Japan's eastern coast Friday, March 11, 2011, killing at least 100 people. Tsunami warnings covered the entire Pacific, as far away as South America, Canada, Alaska and the entire U.S. West Coast.
The magnitude 8.9 offshore quake unleashed a 23-foot tsunami and was followed by more than 50 aftershocks for hours. Earlier, Japanese police said at least 60 people were killed and 56 were missing. The death toll will likely continue to rise, given the scope of the disaster.
In the wake of this disaster, TWR-Asia will continue providing hope and encouragement to Japan. Many Japanese are skeptical of, and indifferent toward, established religion. On the outside, they seem to have few needs, but many of them have become caught up in materialistic pleasures, careers and possessions.
For more than 28 years, TWR-Asia has been proclaiming the unchanging message of God's word to a rapidly changing world. TWR is the most far-reaching Christian media network, broadcasting in 88 languages and dialects over 250 FM stations throughout Asia. TWR-Asia also streams content via the Internet.
