Set Free in Malawi

A listener from Malawi writes,

"I am a woman who stays in the central part of Malawi. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to TWR and its preachers of the Word of God. Through TWR I have managed to know the truth that sets people free. I was a sinner and lost in sin. I was a member of a sect.

"One day I was listening to TWR on a lunch hour programme called "Nkhomaliro Ya Mau". During this programme my spiritual eyes were opened. In fact I have been listening to this programme, but on this particular day I got saved and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I left the sect and joined a church. To God be the glory."

This testimony is from one of six million potential listeners who are within the reach of programmes produced by TWR-Malawi. Broadcasting in Malawi began on short wave and medium wave from Manzini, Swaziland in 1986. In 2000 TWR Malawi FM went on air in Blantyre, and by 2004, more transmitter sites were added. Today there are a total of seven FM transmission sites broadcasting programmes twenty-four hours a day in the Chichewa, English and Chitumbuka languages. Not only is the country of Malawi being permeated with these gospel radio programmes, but they are being heard as far afield as Mozambique and Zambia.

The team in Malawi consists of twenty-four full time employees and twelve volunteers. Victor Kaonga, National Director of TWR-Malawi, shares what blesses him most to be involved with TWR in Malawi:

"Contributing to changed lives in Malawi and beyond! TWR Malawi is the only leading Christian and non-denominational media organisation in Malawi and so it tends to be heavily relied on for the truthful teaching of God's Word."

When asked what readers of this article can pray for, Victor shares, "Pray for people to turn to Christ as they hear God's Word on TWR Malawi and also for more open doors for finances and resources."

TWR-Malawi is one of TWR-Africa's nine National Partners. Other partners can be found in: Burundi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, and South Africa.

Pray that God uses this geographical spread of partners in Africa to powerfully transform lives for His glory on this continent.
